Brooke Henderson knows all too well that you cannot win an LPGA event on the first day. A double-bogey on the par-3 13th hole would prove costly and her putting was not up to championship calibre. The opening round of the CP Women’s Open at The Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club was packed with spectators of all ages.

Henderson’s playing partners, So Leon Ryu tops the 2017 LPGA Money List ($1,733,086) and Cristie Kerr holds the number ten spot ($862,417). Both remained under par at days end but Henderson has a lot of work to do on Friday as she sits at 3 over par.

Marina Alex will lead the tournament going into Fridays round at -5. The tourney has 92 of the top 100 female golfers in attendance this weekend including last year’s champion, Ariya Jutanugarn.
