It was standing room only at the National Capital Heavy Construction Association’s AGM. The Centurion Centre hosted the 2017 event, presented by platinum sponsor, Toromont CAT. I was honoured to Chair the event for the 3 consecutive year with Dave McClure, Robert Ziade and Alison Hogan.
VIP’s from across Ottawa all converged to celebrate Jim Flegg of Louis W. Bray Construction Ltd. taking the reins as President of the NCHCA. Flegg waisted no time in stating to city staff in attendance that much work is needed to be done on the Vendor Performance Management (VPM) system, scoring, consistency and implementation before moving forward in 2018.
Secretary Treasurer, Ray Shannon, noted that the NCHCA is in a positive financial position for 2016 and 2017 and will be making a large financial investment in our on-line presence. A new website and social media program is set to roll out soon to better serve the membership.
Ottawa Mayor, Jim Watson, made a brief appearance early in the evening to congratulate Jim Flegg and the new Board of Directors moving forward during Ottawa 2017 celebrations. Deputy Mayor, Mark Taylor, addressed the membership and the wonderful work done throughout the city by the NCHCA. Ex-NHLer, Laurie Boschman and Senators Marketing Director, Michael Wallace, spoke about the early days of NHL hockey in Ottawa and the possibilities of a new rink closer to downtown, but nothing official.
Thank-you to the support of Silver Sponsors, Equipment Sales & Service, Zurich Insurance, Karson and Nortrax Canada. Kichesippi Beer samples were a huge hit and we ask that you support all our great sponsors the help make these events a success.
