Just 24 hours earlier, speculation ran high on all the possibilities of why Carl Edwards would be stepping away from NASACR and his full-time ride with JGR. Everything from contract problems, health issues to other opportunities inside NASCAR and outside as well. If you really want to drive yourself nuts with thoughts, how about this…Carlos Slim, one of the richest individuals on planet earth, bought out Carl’s contract in favour of 2016 Xfinity Series Champion, Daniel Suarez. Arris, Slim, Suarez, fill your boots with speculation.

Whatever happens over the next few years, Edwards and his 28 Cup victories place him in elite company. “This is all-encompassing. Full time. Not just physical time, “ Edwards said.” I think about racing all day, wake up and have dreams about it.  I’ve been doing it for 20 years. I need to take that time right now and devote it to people and things that are important and I’m really passionate about.”

I personally, have spent more time with Carl than any other driver in NASCAR. We have been together at Daytona, Loudon, Montreal, from Cup cars to Grand-Am cars, from pre-race sponsor meetings to victory lane, we even hooked up at the Inaugural NASCAR Hall Of Fame Inductions back in 2010 and fished in Lake Lloyd before the Daytona 500. Every step of the way, Carl Edwards has been professional, fun and available for everyone in the media room.

Two things I know that Carl has a passion for are aviation and photography, so maybe after spending all these years in his world, it is time to introduce him into mine? We wish him and his family well during their time away from the track.

Carl Edwards is a man of class, conviction, loyalty and integrity. My husband worked directly with Carl for years and has always said Carl is the most down to earth driver, who always spent time with everyone whenever they went to the tracks to test race cars.

Carl will be missed in the racing industry.

All the very best to you and your family, Carl. It’s a huge world out there, and you will always have positive effects on people wherever you go.
